Joel Klatt bashed Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi for trash-talking his former school.
Fowler-Nicolosi fired shots at Colorado before last Saturday’s rivalry game. He claimed the Buffaloes received a “rude awakening” after walking into last year’s double-overtime game with an “attitude” before declaring, “We’ll see how far Instagram followers gets them.” The sophomore then threw two interceptions in a 28-9 loss.
After the game, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders didn’t shake Fowler-Nicolosi’s hand. Klatt debated that exchange with Colin Cowherd.
Cowherd told the FOX broadcaster that he named Colorado his new “fake ID of college football.” Klatt argued that most of the noise “comes from outside” the program.
“A lot of the noise is, how bout you shake hands with the team you just beat?” Cowherd asked on Wednesday’s The Herd.
“Hey, how about if you’re the opposing quarterback, you don’t run your mouth to the extent that Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi ran his mouth and then couldn’t back it up on the field,” Klatt responded. “By the way, if you just run the video a little bit, you’re gonna see Shedeur Sanders shake everybody else’s hands. He daps up everybody from CSU except for this clown that ran his mouth about how good he was.”
On his 2Legendary podcast, Sanders explained his side of the post-game interaction with Fowler-Nicolosi. The Buffaloes quarterback lamented the media portraying him as the bad guy despite his opponent’s provocation.
“Yeah, I said something because I’m human,” Sanders said. “You’re not gonna keep talking crazy about us and talk crazy like you like that, and the whole time you not like that at all.”
During the game, Fowler-Nicolosi also made the questionable decision to taunt Travis Hunter with a “too small” hand gesture after a short scramble out of bounds. Colorado’s two-way star later picked off the quarterback.
