It’s still the first month of the regular season, but Desmond Howard is impressed with that he has seen from Colorado football.
With the Buffaloes coming off an overtime win over Baylor to move to 3-1, Howard offered some serious praise for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who got his team into the extra session last Saturday by completing a Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester on the final play of regulation.
“They have tremendous leadership,” Howard said, via On3. “I think Shedeur Sanders is one of the greatest players right now in college football, not just quarterbacks, just players. Because of his leadership style, the way he approaches the game, extremely poised.”
After squeaking past North Dakota State in the season opener, Colorado was handled by Nebraska in Week 2, losing by three scores.
But Howard argued that the Buffaloes may have found their stride in a win over rival Colorado State in Week 3.
“I’ll tell you what, earlier in the season, obviously with that road trip against Nebraska, they didn’t look good,” Howard added. “And I think a lot of people just kind of wrote them off, like, ‘Colorado’s going to be terrible.’ But I think they found something after that when they went to Colorado State, played their in-state rival, and handled them convincingly.”
This Saturday, Colorado will look for its fourth win of the season in another Big 12 league game against UCF.
A victory would allow the Buffaloes to match their 2023 win total with seven games still to play.
