September 7 might go down in the Northern Illinois calendar as Coach Thomas Hammock day because it has truly been one unforgettable moment for him after another.
After his Huskies shocked with world with a 16-14 win over the No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish – the first-ever win over a top 10 program in school history – Hammock let the world know who he was and how much the win meant to him with an impassioned post game interview.
But Coach Hammock didn’t leave all of his passion on the field for the interviewer though.
Northern Illinois Football released footage of Hammock’s locker room speech to the team after their iconic win. He had just as much passion in the locker room as he did on the field as he declared that the team “did not need luck.”
“Listen! What you can do with the power of belief, and working together, and to stand through it through thick and thin – that’s a team, that’s a family, that’s guys that want it! I told you all week: We do not need luck. We did not need luck!” he declared as he punched his fist into the air.

“Ready to run through a brick wall,” one of many users replied.
“I am so damn happy for Thomas Hammock. He was a really damn good RB at NIU before having to retire with a heart condition. I was at his last home game. This dude is a Huskie through and through,” wrote another.
“Inject this into my veins @NIUCoachHammock has me wanting to run through a wall!” a third wrote.
Truly a special day for Coach Hammock and the Huskies.
