Hopefully fans are enjoying what they’re watching because Travis Hunters don’t come around too often.
After another impressive performance in Colorado’s big 48-21 road win over the UCF Knights on Saturday, folks had a pretty apt comparison for the Buffs’ two-way star: Dodger slugger Shohei Ohtani.
Hunter recorded nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown in addition to his two tackles, interception and pass breakup on the other side of the ball. All while playing nearly 120 snaps.
It’s hard to look at what he’s doing and not think of Ohtani’s 50-50 season and what he’s done on the mound in years past.
“Travis Hunter is the Shohei Ohtani of football,” a fan claimed.
“I dunno why people are worried about Travis Hunter playing both ways,” another said. “He could play all offense with few plays on D, or all defense with few plays on offense As someone whose fave team signed Ohtani, I imagine Hunter would be paid a lot if he does both.”
“Travis Hunter is winning the Heisman,” a user predicted. “Bro is literally the Shohei Ohtani of football.”
“I think I’ve seen the light, what Travis Hunter is doing this year is a Shohei Ohtani – esque outlier,” a doubter admitted.
“Travis Hunter might be the best all around college football player i have ever seen he’s the Ohtani of college football,” another person commented.
It’s hard to imagine Hunter not being a Heisman Trophy finalist if he’s able to keep this up — especially if Colorado keeps winning.
The Buffaloes are no 4-1 with a 2-0 record in the conference. If they beat Kansas State next week is it time to say they’re officially Big 12 contenders?
