Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes keep piling up the national television appearances.
On Monday, the Big 12 announced that CU’s Nov. 16 game against Utah at Folsom Field has been slated for a 10 a.m. kickoff and will be broadcast nationally on Fox.
Head coach Deion Sanders and the 21st-ranked Buffaloes (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) will visit Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas (2 p.m., Fox).
Including the season finale against Oklahoma State on Nov. 29, CU has now had eight games selected this season for national network TV, extending the school record. The previous mark was five, in 2023.
CU has also had three games televised by the flagship ESPN network. The game time and TV selection for the Buffs’ Nov. 23 game at Kansas has yet to be announced. But, at this point, having 11 games on either national networks or ESPN is a school record, topping eight in 2023.
With the next two games on Fox, that will mark five times this season the Buffs have appeared on Fox.
Hood making his mark
So far this season, CU has shown to have an exceptional group of cornerbacks, led by starters Travis Hunter, Preston Hodge and DJ McKinney.
Hunter has seven pass breakups, tied for the Big 12 lead, while Hodge and McKinney are tied for fourth with six each.
Redshirt freshman Colton Hood, meanwhile, continues to have an exceptional season as their top backup. The Auburn transfer has two interceptions and two pass breakups and is seemingly improving as the season goes along.
“He’s a kid that took a chance on us,” defensive coordinator Robert Livingston said. “He came here when a lot of people go somewhere to start, but he wants to learn. He wants to learn the game. And just a great, great kid, great teammate. Plays for us (on defense), makes plays on special teams, and when his number’s been called, to his credit, he’s done a good job.
“There’s so so much there. He can be a great player. He’s just got to continue to work and learn the game. And we’re super excited of where his trajectory is.”
Notable
Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo (offense) and Texas Tech’s Jacob Rodriguez (defense) were named as Big 12 players of the week. Baylor’s Isaiah Hankins and Houston’s Liam Dougherty were named as co-special teams players of the week, while Baylor’s Bryson Washington and Houston’s Zeon Chriss were the co-newcomers of the week. … CU comes into this week with a 3-1 record on the road. The Buffs haven’t won four road games in a season since 2002.
