After beating Colorado State in one of their best performance of Deion Sanders’ tenure, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders made waves in the postgame by refusing to shake the hand of Rams quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi.
But while many have accused Sanders of poor sportsmanship and being a diva, Sanders has a different view on what happened. In a video shared by Overtime, Sanders explained that it was his response to Fowler-Nicolosi for some trash-talk that he had engaged in leading up to the game. Sanders said that after seeing that video and beating him on the field, he told him off for running his mouth.
“After the game I said something to the Colorado State quarterback because he was talking crazy on social media and he was really doing it for the clicks,” Sanders said. “And it’s just like, ‘Come on, bro. We wasn’t even on that.’ And I said something because I’m human. So it was like, ‘You not gonna keep talking crazy about us and talk crazy like you like that and the whole time you not like that at all…’ It felt like a lot of hate to me personally. But of course the media tried to portray it like I did something wrong…”

As for Fowler-Nicolosi’s comments, he said in August that his team would “see how far Instagram followers gets them” when talking about the Buffaloes.
“The hype, the media train, it only gets you so far,” Fowler-Nicolosi said. “At the end of the day, you have to line up your 11 guys against our 11 guys and we’ll find out who wants it more. We’ll see how far Instagram followers gets them.”
Well, the answer is far enough to beat the Rams 28-9 and knocking them off their high horse for the second year in a row.
