It’s getting harder and harder to make the argument that Colorado wideout/cornerback Travis Hunter isn’t the best player in college football – and if you don’t believe it, just ask him.
In the third quarter of today’s game against UCF, having already made a touchdown reception on offense in the first half, UCF QB KJ Jefferson tried to make a pass into the flats but Hunter was ready. The dual-threat superstar dived at the ball and came up with the interception for a turnover. After getting up off the turf, he ran towards the fans and did the Heisman pose – much to the delight of the Fox Sports commentary team.
It has long been argued that Hunter has a strong case as one of college football’s best wide receivers and best cornerbacks. But while fans believe that he is more than worthy of the most prestigious award in American sports, there’s been skepticism that he’ll win it due to the team’s struggles and controversies.
Nevertheless, a play that good has just about everyone agreeing that he’s the true Heisman Trophy frontrunner:

“Travis Hunter. The best player in the country. No debate,” Field Yates wrote.
“Travis Hunter should win heisman trophy if we’re a serious country,” PFT Commenter mused.
“Travis Hunter is top 3 best players in all of college football…. Argue with your mother,” Maurice Clarett wrote.
Barring a sudden dropoff in production or an injury, there seems to be no way to seriously argue that he isn’t the best player in the country. If Hunter isn’t at least a finalist for the award by the end of the year, a lot of people are going to call the award fraudulent.
