It may not be who you’re expecting either…
After Colorado’s dominant 49-24 win over the Utah Utes last Saturday, two Buffaloes have been awarded Big 12 Player of the Week honors.
Before last weekend, four Buffaloes (Hunter, Sanders, Augustave, and Mata) had earned Player of the Week honors for their heroics on the field. Now, two more have joined the club.
The first of which is LaJohntay Wester, who was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after ripping off a 76-yard punt return touchdown against Utah. Wester used his blazing speed to leave the Utes in the dust, strolling into the endzone untouched to put the Buffaloes in full control of the game in the first quarter.
LaJohntay Wester was one of the best punt returners in the country at FAU. He’s been waiting all season for a chance to make an impact on special teams for the #CUBuffs. Boy did he do just that here ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/sDPrYbtCuG

Amari McNeill is the second Buff to win Player of the Week honors this week, splitting the Defensive PotY award with West Virginia’s Reid Carrico. Against the Utes, McNeill racked up three tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in Colorado’s dominant win. The Buffaloes dominated Utah in the trenches and McNeill was a pivotal part of that effort.
