Colorado is off to a great start in year two under head coach Deion Sanders.
The program has already equaled its win total from last year (four) in just five games to start the year. Colorado is coming off a dominant 48-21 win over UCF and has two weeks to prepare for its next game against Kansas State on October 12.
Some people weren’t buying into what Sanders was selling when he took over the program but Urban Meyer wasn’t one of those people. He recently told everyone why he kept faith in Sanders even though the program only went 4-8 last year.
“You know, I went last year to see them practice, because I know we had some games, and I just thought, do my job,” Meyer said, (first transcribed by On3). “This is unchartered waters. I’ve known Coach Prime for a long time. We’ve been friends, and he invited me in. I went to meetings, I went to practice, and I texted you guys and called you guys and said, ‘Guys, this is not a 1-10 program, that they have good players, couple great players, and there’s some substance behind what shows up in press conferences and all that.’”
“They coach, and you’re starting to see the rewards of the substance behind this stuff.”
Sanders is two wins away from clinching a bowl game for his program but he has his eyes set higher than that.
Kickoff for the Kansas-State-Colorado game on October 12 will be at 10:15 p.m. ET.
