Colorado started its 2024 season off on the right foot last week, beating North Dakota State 31-26 on Thursday night.
Coming off a 4-8 campaign in 2023 and under scrutiny following a somewhat tumultuous offseason, the Buffaloes are going to need to string together a few more wins to achieve a top 25 ranking.
However, for one voter, they are already worthy of a spot in the AP poll. Colorado received one vote in the latest AP top 25, and the person who cast it for them has now been identified.
Fox Sports’ Mike Hill is the lone believer in Colorado, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Hill was the only person to vote for the Buffaloes in the preseason AP poll.
The veteran broadcaster has heard the complaints about his support for Deion Sanders’ program, and he fired back at critics on X/Twitter Tuesday.
“There are enough haters of @CUBuffsFootball cu of their “personal” bias of @DeionSanders. If not, no one would even care if they got an AP preseason vote or after week 1. Who’s it affecting? It just exacerbates their hate & I’m loving it. I also believe their better than expected,” Hill wrote.
Looking to move to 2-0, Colorado will have its first road test this Saturday when the Buffaloes head to Lincoln for a showdown with longtime Big Eight/Big 12 rival Nebraska.
Last year in Boulder, Colorado beat the Cornhuskers to move to 2-0 on the season. However, after beating Colorado State the ensuing week, the Buffaloes went on to lose eight of their final nine games.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
