The NBA All Star Weekend lately is more about show and less about basketball. The latest idea of 50 Cent performing alongside Nikola Jokic is definitely a type of show that will get fans engaged. Will that happen? 50 Cent wants it, we have to wait for the Joker.
50 Cent ft. Nikola Jokic – Many Men at All Star Weekend
The whole idea began lately when DeAndre Jordan talked about Jokic on the Run it Back Podcast. During the podcast, Jokic’s Nuggets teammate revealed a bit more about his music taste. He said,
“Peyton Watson is our locker room DJ, so anytime Nikola requests a song, if it’s not, like, Serbian folk music, it is ‘Many Men’ by 50 Cent. He knows the words from start to finish. That’s his song, man, he loves it.”
Things heated up in a recent NBA TV interview with Jokic, when the crew joked that the three-time MVP knows every word of the song. They pleaded for him to rap the words during the interview. Sadly, the Joker replied,
“No, no, no, I’m not. D.J. is a bad teammate. I love the song, I love the song, but I’m not going to rap it. “No, no, he’s lying. I don’t know the words. But I’m going to learn it. Maybe I’m going to perform, I think.”

The crew suggested the performance between Jokic and 50 Cent might take place during the upcoming All-Star weekend in February.
50 Cent is All For It
50 Cent has a big European Tour this summer, with stops in the UK, France, and Estonia. He could use a bit more publicity, as he is getting ready for the tour. Performing with Jokic, who is arguably the best player in the NBA and was born in a small country in Europe, could definitely help.
The American rapper posted on social media, saying he is all about it. He said,
“Look if he says he gonna perform, we gonna perform. I’ll back him up, we will have the spot jumping.”
The idea of such an unusual collaboration may be what the All-Star Weekend needs. After all, the basketball part of it has not delivered much amusement lately. If the three-time MVP and the popular rapper were to do it, they would likely blow the roof off of Chase Center.
Jokic Following Shaq’s Footsteps
The last time a big dominant player had an iconic performance during the All-Star weekend was Shaquille O’Neal with the Jabbawockeez. The performance happened during the 2009 All-Star weekend. It was Shaq’s last All-Star appearance. He was 36 years old at the time, and well past his prime. But he could still bring the house down. Shaq has a history of memorable All-Star moments. Remember, in 2007, he started the dance-off during a practice session, with LeBron James and Dwight Howard joining in.
Jokic is in the middle of his prime, dominating the league in every way possible. This year, Nikola has a chance to become just the third player to win four MVPs in five years, something only LeBron and Bill Russell have done in the past.
