The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching and every team is trying to get their hands on more talent to compete through the final stretch of the regular season and the playoffs. One of the teams that desperately needs a jolt is the Denver Nuggets. One of the Nuggets’ recent trade rumors, reported by insider Ian Begley, is that the team may be interested in Toronto Raptors’ Chris Boucher. His versatility and experience make him an interesting trade target for a Nuggets team that needs to add some depth. Here’s why a Boucher trade could make some sense for the Nuggets.
Denver Nuggets Trade Rumors: Team Interested In Veteran Big
What Boucher Brings to the Table
Over seven seasons with the Raptors, Boucher has been a solid rotation player. He has rarely gotten enough playing time to truly flourish. His best season was in 2020-21. In that year he averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds on a career-high 38.3% from three. Now in his eighth NBA season, Boucher is averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season while only averaging 17.4 minutes per game.
Boucher was part of the Raptors 2019 championship team, bringing playoff experience to any team that might trade for him. His defensive presence and ability to stretch the floor as a shooting big man are skills that the Nuggets could benefit from adding. For the Nuggets, Boucher represents an opportunity to enhance their frontcourt depth and versatility. His ability to defend multiple positions, knock down shots from three, and contribute as a rebounder makes him an ideal fit alongside Nikola Jokic.
Nuggets Trade Rumors
According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Denver Nuggets are among the teams with a strong interest in the Raptors forward.
“Several teams have Boucher on their radar with the trade deadline less than a month away,”
Begley noted, adding that the Nuggets have “fans” within their organization who appreciate what Boucher could bring to their squad.
Denver has had an up-and-down season so far. They have been linked in multiple trade rumors as they look to upgrade in hopes of maximizing Jokic’s prime. Some of the areas that the team most needs help with are depth, three-point shooting, and defense. The team is 19th in defensive rating and 28th in three-pointers made per game. On top of that, because of their lack of depth, they need to play Jokic more minutes than they ever have before.
Boucher Trade Looks Enticing After Big Performance
Boucher’s value was on full display in a recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had one of his best performances of the season. The 6-foot-9 forward finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds, a steal, and a block while shooting an efficient 9-for-14 from the field and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc.
This standout performance highlighted his scoring and rebounding capabilities. It also showed his ability to stretch the floor. With that, he has an invaluable skill for any team looking to compete at the highest level. If the Nuggets rumors are true and they have their sights on Boucher, this game could easily move the needle toward a Boucher trade.
