Nikola Jokic’s supposed indifference to basketball as he continues to be the best in the world at the sport has become a frequent story line over the last couple of years.
In reality, Jokic surely cares a great deal about his craft but he definitely seems to have no use for any of the ancillary stuff that goes with it. The Denver Nuggets’ annual media day would certainly qualify.
During his session with reporters Thursday, Jokic joked around and clearly wanted to be anywhere but at the podium. He even said as much.
“No, every year is the same thing, and I don’t know why we’re doing it every year,” Jokic said. “Everything is the same. Completely the same thing.”
This is part of Jokic’s schtick at this point, but some fans are tiring of the act.
“Hard for NBA to sell a product when your best player consistently acts like he doesn’t care about said product. Whoops!” one person wrote.
“He really treats the NBA like a 9-5.’ ‘He just wants to go race his horse.’ OMG STFUUUUUUUU this gimmick is so old and was never funny,” another said.
“Bro is so annoyed to be the best basketball player on the planet lol,” a third person added.
Joker isn’t a fan of media day 😅

“This is why ‘best player in the league’ IS NOT the same as ‘face of the league,'” a fourth person chimed in.
“Jokic already in his bored WWE wrestler facial hair phase,” added another commenter.
Fair points, but if we’re being honest, many NBA players probably feel the same way Jokic does about media day. They just do a better job of hiding it.
