The Denver Nuggets were interested in acquiring Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers via an opt-in-and-trade transaction. The Nuggets would have had to give up Michael Porter Jr., Zeke Nnaji and significant draft capital in a deal.
Talks ended over the draft picks as Denver wasn’t willing to move significant draft picks in the deal.
The Nuggets likely would have incurred tax apron issues for years to come by acquiring and extending George in a deal. That makes having draft picks to replenish depth an important part of their roster-building process.
George is represented by Aaron Mintz.
