It’s not exactly a secret that Carmelo Anthony didn’t end his time with the Denver Nuggets on the best of terms. But in the wake of his retirement, he’s showing respect to the team that once drafted him.
Taking to Twitter, Melo offered thanks to the Nuggets organization for offering him his NBA start. He included a picture of himself in his Nuggets uniform from his playing days.
“Where it all started,” Melo wrote, adding a double high-five emoji. “Thank you to my @nuggets family.”
While some Nuggets fans are ready to welcome Melo back into the team as a legend, others are a lot less forgiving. Some are even saying that they will never forgive him for leaving to join the Knicks over a decade ago:

“Have at least 2 finals games (assuming history doesn’t happen) in Denver, perfect opportunity to return to Denver to sit courtside,” one Nuggets fan replied to him.
“The best to ever play the game it’s a war here defending one of my favorite players in the NBA! I remember watching the draft & was excited to see you, bron & wade all get picked, thank you for the memories. Now I hope the nuggets hang up your jersey in the rafters!” wrote another.
“I’ll never forgive you for leaving,” a third said more bluntly.
Carmelo Anthony may always wind up being a polarizing figure in Nuggets history, but he clearly hasn’t forgotten them the way some may want to forget him.
