Will the Dodgers knock out the Mets and can the Guardians tie up the ALCS?
Powered by the bats of Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, the Dodgers crushed the Mets 10-2 on Thursday and moved within one win of the World Series. Los Angeles has now outscored New York 30-9 in four games. With a win Friday afternoon, the Dodgers could send the Mets home and advance past the NLCS for the first time since 2020.
The Guardians found some postseason magic when David Fry hit a walk-off homer in the 10th inning for their first win in the ALCS. With Game 4 in Cleveland again on Friday night, they could even up the series.
Game 5 of the NLCS will be broadcast on FS1 at 3:08 p.m. MT.
The Dodgers have combined to hit six homers, including two from Ohtani, against the Mets, while New York has only hit three. The Mets need a win at home to stay alive and send the series back to Los Angeles.
Jack Flaherty will start for the Dodgers. He’s gone 1-1 with a 2.92 in two postseason appearances over 12 1⁄3 innings. His win came when he threw seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out six and walking two in Game 1 vs. the Mets.
Lefty David Peterson will be on the mound for the Mets. Usually a reliever, Peterson has a 2.04 ERA in four postseason appearances this year. After throwing 6 1⁄3 scoreless innings in his first three appearances, he gave up two runs on three hits in New York’s 9-0 loss in Game 1.

After a comeback win on Thursday, Cleveland will turn to Gavin Williams, who hasn’t pitched since Sept. 22, to make the start in Game 4. The 25-year-old righty missed the first half of the season with right elbow inflammation and finished with a 4.86 ERA in 16 appearances, going 3-10. He’s struggled with control, but will make his postseason debut Friday.
Luis Gil will start for New York. After posting a 15-7 record and 3.50 ERA in the regular season, the 26-year-old RHP rookie is also making his postseason debut Friday. He hasn’t pitched since Sept. 28 and ended the regular season by giving up 10 runs in his final two starts over 11 innings.
