Here’s a list of who the Rockies drafted and signed for the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft.
The 2024 MLB Draft has officially concluded! The Colorado Rockies have 21 picks in the books for this year’s First-Year Player Draft. With their first pick—third overall—they selected exciting corner infielder and outfielder Charlie Condon from the University of Georgia, who had the chance to go first or second overall. The Rockies also made two additional Day One picks. Their final draft pick for 2024 was right-handed pitcher Hunter Omlid from Arizona State University.
As always, the Rockies loaded up on pitching talent in this year’s draft. 13 of their 21 selections were pitchers with the remaining eight being position players. The Rockies did not select any high school players and only one JuCo player, right-handed pitcher Sam Gerth from Navarro College in Texas.
The Rockies were surprised when Charlie Condon fell into their laps, as Wake Forest pitcher Chase Burns was commonly mocked to be picked by them third overall. However, Burns was drafted second overall by the Cincinnati Reds, allowing the Rockies to draft one of the best-overall hitters in the draft and MLB Pipeline’s second overall draft prospect.
Overall the Rockies drafted 13 pitchers (ten right-handed and three left-handed), three outfielders, two catchers, and one first baseman, third baseman, and shortstop.
