Can the Rockies sweep the Giants??
On this Hall of Fame Induction Day, the Colorado Rockies have officially hit the century-mark on the season and have a reciprocal 36-63 record. They’ve won two of three against the San Francisco Giants, and will look to sweep their nemesis this afternoon.
Ryan Feltner (1-9, 5.36 ERA) will take the mound for the Rockies. Feltner has lost two-straight starts despite allowing a combined four earned runs over the two outings. In his last outing against the New York Mets on July 13, Feltner tossed a season-low 3 2⁄3 innings — his fewest since 2023 when he threw three innings in his final outing at Dodger Stadium. He also allowed a season-high five walks. Feltner also took the loss on July 8 at Cincinnati, allowing just one run earned run over seven innings, while walking three and striking out six.
Feltner will face Giants’ rookie right-hander Hayden Birdsong (1-0, 3.72 ERA), who made his MLB debut on June 26 after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 draft by the Giants. He will be making his fifth-career start today. In his last outing against the Minnesota Twins on July 13, Birdsong threw five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
