Colorado Rockies game no. 105 thread: Ryan Feltner vs Blake Snell

The Colorado Rockies lace them up for a scheduled double header against the San Francisco Giants at the beautiful Oracle Park. Unfortunately, said Park has been much less beautiful for the Rockies, who have dropped nine straight games there after last night’s beatdown by the bay. The Rockies will look to end that losing streak tonight and will lock in a draw for this four game set if they win both of tonight’s ballgames.

On the mound for the Rockies to start the double header is the right-handed Ryan Feltner. Feltner is coming off a strong outing against the Giants prior to the All-Star break in which he threw seven frames and gave up just two earned runs and striking out six batters. Could this be Feltner’s final outing in purple? There have been murmurings that the 27-year-old is drawing interest from other teams.

Toeing the rubber for the Giants is the left-handed Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award Winner that has… largely struggled to put things together in nine games with the Giants. Snell has spent time on the injured list and in nine starts this season has a 5.83 ERA and is worth -0.4 rWAR over 41 ²⁄₃ innings. However, he might be facing the right team to help him find his footing. Snell has made 12 career starts against the Rockies with a 3.60 ERA over 65 innings.

There have been some roster changes prior to tonight’s games. Right-handed reliever Nick Mears was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for prospects. Right-handed relievers Jake Bird and John Curtiss have been recalled from the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes while left-handed pitcher Ty Blach has been designated for assignment. Right-handed starter Tanner Gordon will serve as the 27th man for the double header.
