Freelands aims to bounce back to stave off the Angels bats
The bats certainly came alive in Game One of the series against the Los Angeles Angels but unfortunately for the Rockies, the same was the case for their opponent. As they prepare for Game Two, the Rockies hope the pitching can rebound while the bats replicate the good times from Tuesday.
Kyle Freeland (2-4, 6.23 ERA) closes out July for the Rockies on the mound. His last outing was his worst since returning from the injured list where he allowed six runs on eight hits over four innings of work against the San Francisco Giants. Freeland did manage eight strikeouts against one walk but surrendered a pair of home runs.
He’ll square off against Davis Daniel (1-2, 5.82 ERA) who is making his fourth start of the year. The former seventh-round pick has had an interesting first couple of starts with the Angels. In his first outing, he tossed eight shutout innings before giving up 12 runs on 15 hits in nine innings over two starts in July. He works in the zone plenty but has been hit quite hard, leading to few walks and a good amount of balls in play.
