The Rockies have a chance to win back-to-back series
After taking game one of their road series against the San Diego Padres last night by a 5-2 score, the Colorado Rockies will look to lock up their final series of the season at Petco Park.
Tanner Gordon will take the ball for the Rockies, making his fourth MLB start. He currently holds an 0-3 record with an 8.80 ERA, getting tagged for 25 hits and 15 runs in 15 1⁄3 innings. His last start was the best so far in his brief big league career, allowing four runs over six innings against the San Francisco Giants while striking out five without issuing a walk.
Opposing Gordon will be veteran lefty Martín Pérez. Pérez, a native of Venezuela, has pitched in 304 major league games and holds a career 4.48 ERA. He is 2-5 this season with a 5.20 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 83 IP. He logged six shutout innings against the St. Louis Cardinals in his last start and took the loss in his only appearance against the Rockies this season even though he threw well, surrendering three runs in 5 1⁄3 innings on May 3rd.
