The Rockies look to take the rubber match in their final meeting with the Amazin’s in 2024
Holding a 2-2 tie into the ninth before a late collapse in Wednesday’s 5-3 loss, the Colorado Rockies look to rebound and take their final series against the New York Mets of the season.
Taking the ball for the Mets will be Colorado native David Peterson. The former Regis Jesuit HS graduate and first round selection is in his fifth MLB season, with a 4.35 ERA in just under 400 innings. He’s missed time to start the season after off-season hip surgery, but has been strong in his return with a 5-1 record and 3.47 ERA in 11 starts.
Opposing the left-handed Coloradan will be another lefty — Austin Gomber. Although he holds an uninspiring 3-7 record, Gomber has been a stable presence for the Rockies’ rotation with a 4.66 ERA in 116 IP. He delivered one of his best performances of the season in his last start, holding the San Diego Padres to two run over seven innings on August 2nd.
