The Rockies will look to win another game against the Braves
The Colorado Rockies beat the Atlanta Braves 6-5 last night, snapping a nine-game losing streak against Atlanta. The last time they beat the Braves was August 30, 2022 and the last time they beat the Braves at Coors Field was September 4, 2021. It was their 17th series-opening win of the year, and they have improved to 26-14 when they record at least 10 hits in a game.
Brenton Doyle went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and two RBI. He also became the first Rockie to record a 20/20 season in 2024, and the 10th player overall in franchise history (16th time). The home run was his fourth over the last 14 games, and his eighth-career game overall with multiple extra-base hits. This guy rules!
Dakota Hudson (2-12, 5.84 ERA) was recently brought back by the Rockies after being DFA’d and outrighted about a month ago. Hudson last pitched against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 3rd, and lasted 4 2⁄3 innings while allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks. He has faced the Braves four times (three starts) and is 1-1 with a 7.41 ERA.
Hudson will face Braves’ left-hander Max Fried, who is making his second appearance since returning from the 15-day IL (left forearm neuritis) on August 4th. In his last outing, Fried pitched 3 1⁄3 innings against the Miami Marlins while allowing five runs on four hits with six strikeouts and five walks. Fried has faced the Rockies five times (four starts) and is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA.
