The Rockies will look to even out their series with the Diamondbacks.
Tonight, the Colorado Rockies (44-76) will play their second game of this series with the Arizona Diamondbacks (67-53). Last night, they lost a heartbreaker, 5-4.
Arizona has a 2-6 lead in the 2024 season-series, and the Rockies are 1-4 at Chase Field this season with Rockies starting pitchers combining for a 9.93 ERA (22.2 IP, 25 ER) in those games.
Meanwhile, the Snakes have been red-hot. Since July 1, the D-backs are 26- 10 (.722; 13-5 home, 13-5 road). In fatheir 26 wins are the most in the Majors in the span, ahead of the Astros (21), Mets (21) and Padres (21).
LHP Austin Gomber will take the mound for the visiting Rockies. Currently, he has a 4.92 ERA (1.32 WHIP) in 119.0 innings pitched. He’s struck out 85, walked 29, and given up 24 home runs.
Starting for the D-backs will be LHP Eduardo Rodriguez in just his second start of 2024. (He’s been sidelined with injuries.)
Clearly, this is small-sample-size stuff, but he’s earned a 4.76 ERA (1.06 WHIP) in 5.2 IP. During that game, he struck out one, walked two, and give up two home runs. Rodriguez did get the win over the Cleveland Guardians.
