The Rockies will look to get their East Coast roadtrip off to a good start.
Tonight, the Colorado Rockies (46-79) will kick off their three-game series with the Washington Nationals (56-69).
After 63 road games, the Rockies have gone 17-46 on the road this season, a .270 winning percentage that is the second-worst in franchise history, trailing the 2021 Rockies (.254, 16-47).
LHP Austin Gomber will take the mound for the visiting Rockies. Currently, he has a 4.82 ERA (1.31 WHIP) in 125.0 innings pitched. He’s struck out 89, walked 30, and given up 24 home runs.
Starting for the Nationals will be LHP DJ Hertz. He’s earned a 4.25 ERA (1.31 WHIP) in 55.0 IP. He’s struck out 68, walked 19, and give up 10 home runs.
In his last outing, Hertz matched a career-high 6.0 innings, struck out five and allowed two runs on four hits, a homer and two walks in a 4-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on August 14 at Camden Yards.
It will be a match of two rebuilding teams with the Nationals ahead of the Rockies.
