Colorado has been outscored 18-4 so far in the Motor City.
After getting embarrassed 11-0 in the first game of their road series against the Detroit Tigers, the Colorado Rockies promptly fell into a 6-1 hole in game two — leading to another loss, their 92nd of the season. They’ll have a tall order in salvaging a win in the final game of the series, facing the favorite for the American League Cy Young award.
First, Ryan Feltner will take the ball for Colorado. He holds a 2-10 record and ERA just a hiar below five. Although the overall numbers are not pretty, Feltner has been trending in the right direction lately. He allowed just one run on two hits over six innings in his last start. He couldn’t make it through the fifth in his previous start against the Baltimore Orioles, but did through five strong innings against the Miami Marlins with two runs allowed in the start before that on August 26.
Opposing Feltner is lefty Tarik Skubal, who has shined to a 16-4 record and 2.53 ERA in 2024. The front-runner for the Cy Young, Skubal has a K-to-BB of 208/33 in 174 IP, leading the American League in strikeouts while posting a 0.95 WHIP and opponent batting average of .207.
