Rockies play Dodgers in final road series of the season
A day after driving in 10 runs, hitting three homers and stealing two bases in a 6-for-6 game where he became the first member of the 50 homers/50 stolen bases club, Shohei Ohtani will now take on the Colorado Rockies in the Dodgers final three games in Los Angeles in the regular season.
Not only did Ohtani finish the game with 51 in both categories, but he also led the way to a massive win that sealed the Dodgers 12th straight playoff appearance. Needless to say, the L.A. crowd is likely to go nuts when he leads off against Kyle Freeland tonight.
Freeland (5-7, 4.89) has been impressive on the mound recently, recording four quality starts in his last five appearances. During that span, the Rockies have gone 3-2, Freeland has gone 2-2 and the 31-year-old lefty has posted a 2.35 ERA with 20 strikeouts and only four walks in 30 2⁄3 innings.
He’ll need to be on his game against the Dodgers, who are likely to win the NL West crown again this year and because the Rockies are 90-165 all-time at Dodger Stadium. The Rockies went 0-6 in L.A. last year, but did win one of three earlier this season.
Ryan Brasier (1-0, 3.60 ERA) will get the start for L.A. Brasier, the 37-year-old righty, has pitched in 26 games for the Dodgers this season with 24 of those coming in relief. In his two starts this year, Brasier has only thrown one inning. Brasier has made six appearances against the Rockies in his career, all in relief, and notched a 1.69 ERA in 5 1⁄3 innings.
