The Rockies need two more wins to avoid 100 losses
Tonight marks the final night game of 2024, and the penultimate game period for the Colorado Rockies. They face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who clinched their 11th NL West title in 12 years on Thursday night (thankfully against the San Diego Padres). The Rox were beat down 11-4 last night, but if they can win their final two games, they will finish 63-99.
Tonight will be a rematch of last Sunday’s contest with Antonio Senzatela (0-0, 3.38 ERA) taking the mound for the third and final time in 2024 after returning from Tommy John surgery. In his last outing against the Dodgers, Senzatela threw five innings and allowed just one run (a solo homer by Teoscar Hernández in the fourth inning) while walking two and fanning two. Senzatela has yet to record a decision in 2024… could today be the day?
He will face Dodgers’ rookie right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-2, 2.96 ERA) once again. In his last outing against the Rockies on Sunday, Yamamoto threw just three innings and allowed four runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. However, as we know, the Dodgers walked that one off in the ninth inning and came out with a 6-5 victory. Yamamoto will be making his Coors Field debut today. Can the Rockies take advantage?
