We did it!
There you have it, folks. The Colorado Rockies will play their final game of the 2024 season this afternoon against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Luckily, it’s their last one. Unluckily, they’ve gone 2-7 over their last nine games after starting the month of September 8-7; they’ve been outscored 68-40 during that stretch and have been outscored by the Dodgers 24-6 over their last two games.
Oh, and last night’s loss marked the second-straight 100-loss campaign for the Rockies.
The 2024 season was a forgettable one, but perhaps things will shake up during the offseason. Charlie Blackmon’s retirement might be the first domino to fall.
Ryan Feltner (3-10, 4.66 ERA) will take the ball for the final time this season after a pregame ceremony honoring Blackmon. In his last outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, Feltner tossed six innings while allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk. He has faced the Dodgers five times in his career (four starts) and owns a 1-2 record and 7.36 ERA against them.
Feltner will face Dodgers’ lefty reliever Anthony Banda (3-2, 3.14 ERA). In his last outing against the San Diego Padres, Banda threw 1 1⁄3 scoreless innings of relief in the 7-2 NL West division-clinching game on Thursday.
Can the Rockies overcome a bullpen game by the Dodgers to end Charlie Blackmon’s career, and the 2024 season, on a high note?
