They Rockies look to avoid getting swept for their third straight series in this doubleheader nightcap.
The Colorado Rockies have not won a game since April 10th. In this doubleheader nightcap against the Washington Nationals they risk being swept in their third straight series and increasing their losing streak to nine games. The Rockies have no doubt been a tough watch—leading to the firing of hitting coach Hensley Meulens—as they are off to their worst first 20 games to start the season in franchise history.
Right-handed veteran Antonio Senzatela will toe the rubber tonight for his fifth start of the season. After two scoreless—but tense—outings to start the season, Senzatela has been roughed up in his last two starts. Against the Los Angeles Dodgers last week he gave up four earned runs on nine hits—including two home runs—with just one strikeout. He has given up a ton of contact this season and will need to reign it in if he wants to find success.
On the bump for the Nationals is right-handed rookie Brad Lord. Lord is making his sixth appearance and third start of his debut season with the Nationals. Through 9 1⁄3 innings he holds an ERA of 4.82 with five strikeouts. The 25-year-old throws four pitches, leading with a mid-90s four seam fastball. His breaking pitches consist of a slider, a sinker, and a changeup.
