The Rockies will look to build on their two-game winning streak.
Tonight, the Colorado Rockies (29-55) will host the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers (50-35) in game two of a four-game home stand. Game 1 concluded with a Rockies 8-7 walk-off win in the tenth. (This was their sixth walk-off of 2024.)
Because the Rockies are the Rockies, they are 16-15 against teams with winning percentages at or above .500 this season and 12-39 when playing under .500 teams.
Starting for the Brewers will be Dallas Keuchel, who will be making his second start of the season for Milwaukee. In his 2024 debut last week, he earned a no decision in the Brewers’ 6-5, 10-inning win over the Texas Rangers (4 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 71 pitches).
Against the Rockies, Keuchel has a 1-1 record with a 6.75 ERA in four games, with three starts against Colorado (21.1 IP, 23 H, 17 R, 16 ER, 8 BB, 15 K, 2 HR). He is 0-1 with an 11.74 ERA in two games, one start at Coors Field (7.2 IP, 12 H, 11 R, 10 ER, 6 BB, 7 K, 2 HR).
His only start at Coors Field came in an 11-7 loss on July 2, 2022, with the Arizona Diamondbacks (5 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR).
Ryan Feltner will take the mound for the Rockies, making his 17th start of the season, his eighth at Coors Field, and the third start against the Brewers. In his two starts at Coors Field, he went 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA (10.2 IP, 6 ER); however, he did not factor into the Rockies’ 3-2 win over the Brewers on May 2, 2023, though he allowed two runs on six hits in 5.1 innings.
Currently, Feltner has a 5.82 ERA (1.45 WHIP) in 86.2 innings pitched. He’s struck out 75, walked 23, and given up 12 home runs.
Getting a win here would allow the Rockies to build on the momentum they are trying to establish heading into the All-Star Break.
