The Rockies will look to get back on track.
Tonight, the Colorado Rockies (32-59) will play their second game of four against the Cincinnati Reds (43-48). Game 1 concluded with the Rockies losing, 6-0.
Cal Quantrill will take the mound for the Rockies, making his 19th start of the season, Currently, he has a 3.77 ERA (1.33 WHIP) in 100.1 innings pitched. He’s struck out 74, walked 38, and given up 12 home runs. He has posted 10 quality starts on the season, tied for the eighth-most in the National League.
Against the Reds, he’s made four career appearances (two starts) in his career and has a 3.38 ERA in 16.0 IP, giving up 6 ER. When pitching at Great American Ballpark, which he’s done twice, he holds a 5.63 ERA (8.0 IP, 5 ER). Quantrill last pitched at Great American Ball Park April 16, 2021.
Starting for the Reds will be Nick Lodolo, who activated today from the 15-day IL. He had been recovering from a blister on his throwing hand.
This will be his 13th game, ane he’s earned a 2.98 ERA (1.07 WHIP) over 70.0 IP. During that time, he’s struck out 73, walked 19, and given up seven home runs.
Getting a win here would allow the Rockies to begin to build some momentum as they head into the All-Star Break.
