The Rockies will match up with the Reds for the final time this year.
After falling in the first two games of their road series against the Cincinnati Reds, the Colorado Rockies were able to pull-off a 6-5 victory on Wednesday and have a chance to earn a split in the four-game set this afternoon before heading to New York for their final series before the All Star break.
Austin Gomber will get the ball for the Rockies, entering the start with a 2-5 record and 4.47 ERA. After a hot start to the season, Gomber cooled off considerably in June with a 9.39 ERA in five starts but has started to turn the page in July. He tossed seven innings with just one run allowed in his last start against Kansas City.
Opposing Gomber will be Reds’ ace Hunter Greene. The former second overall draft selection has thrown well this year, holding a 3.45 and 1.14 WHIP in 18 starts. He’s allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts but has been touched-up to the tune of a 15 hits and ten runs surrendered in 8 1⁄3 career innings against the Rockies.
