The Rockies wrap of spring training with a final game Florida
Spring training finally comes to a close as the Colorado Rockies traveled all the way to Florida to take on the Minnesota Twins to prepare for the start of the 2025 season against Tampa Bay on Friday.
The Rockies will send out Germán Márquez for one final tune-up. The righty has had an uneven camp going 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings of work. In his previous outing against the Texas Rangers, Márquez allowed three runs on six hits in 4 2⁄3 innings, and coughing up a couple of home runs. Márquez has been trying to find his command, having issued seven walks against nine strikeouts in his four outings of spring training. The Rockies are hoping Márquez can resemble his old self after missing essentially two seasons on the mound. He is currently slated to be the fourth man in the rotation.
The Twins will send out former San Diego Padres Chris Paddack (1-0, 4.40 ERA) to make his final start before the regular season. Paddacks first two seasons in Minnesota were marred by injury but in his first healthy year with the club in 2024, he posted a 4.99 ERA in 17 starts. After a rough first appearance in spring training, he’s improved with each start. In his last appearance, he allowed one run on four hits in 4 2⁄3 innings of work against the Boston Red Sox. His command has been on point, punching out 16 batters against just two walks in 14 1⁄3 innings of work.
