Happy (almost) new year! I hope your 2024 was better than the Colorado Rockies’ season…
Entering 2025, it’s always fun to look back at Purple Row’s 10 most-read articles from 2024. Yesterday, we posted our staff favorites. The articles below are posted counting down from No. 10 (fewest page views) to No. 1 (most page views). Here is last year’s iteration.
Page views are as of 12pm MT today, December 31.

10) March 27: Breaking Down the Rockies Opening Day roster; 5,719 page views
After a historically bad 2023, there was some hope that the Rockies might turn a page in 2024. 100 losses for the first time in franchise history has to mean something, right?
There weren’t too many changes from anyone, but Skyler broke down the Opening Day roster so fans had an idea of what was to come in 2024.
9) May 1: The broken nature of a historically bad Rockies team; 5,902 page views
One of the main themes for this Top 10 list was how bad the Rockies were in 2024, and for more reasons than one. After the Rockies blew a 5-0 lead behind a stellar Ryan Feltner outing (something that happened quite often during the season, especially the early goings), Skyler wrote about some of the main reasons they had a historically bad season, and why it’s challenging to be a fan under such circumstances.
8) June 11: The Rockies are not an appealing destination for MLB players; 7,050 page views
In June, The Athletic ran an MLB Player poll and it was not very good for the Rockies. Evan broke down what the article said about the team, and how that sheds light on things we perhaps already knew.
7) July 17: Colorado Rockies’ 2024 draft results and signings tracker; 7,733 page views
Being fans of a bad franchise means more attention is paid to the MLB Draft. The Rockies had the third-overall pick in 2024, and made some notable choices otherwise. Evan compiled a full summary of the draft picks and how much they signed for.
6) March 4: Affected by Altitude: We’ll show Kris Bryant for that “purple monkey dishwasher” remark; 8,320 page views
Another theme of this Top 10 list, for the second-straight year, was Kris Bryant. Early in the year, before the regular season even started, Bryant gave an interview to The Athletic with some… interesting comments about his time in Colorado and why he chose to sign with the Rockies. Unsurprisingly, that rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way and kicked off what would be another challenging year for the former MVP — both on and off the field. Bryant only played 37 games in 2024 and still has yet to play a full MLB season over three years. Can he finally turn things around in 2025? We can only hope!
Skyler and Evan discussed Bryant’s comments in an episode of the Affected by Altitude podcast.
5) April 5: Colorado Rockies introduce new menu items at Coors Field; 8,496 page views
In the midst of any historically-bad season, there is always one thing that brings fans together: food. Keeping up with tradition, Renee tested all of the new menu items at Coors Field and offered her thoughts. Did you try any of the new items? What were your thoughts?
4) August 2: Rockies plunge into permanent purgatory; 8,659 page views
Again, the Rockies were historically bad in 2024. They posted a 61-101 record and made lots of dubious history. However, they continue to be in a place where you aren’t quite sure what they’re thinking. Will they make a big splash in hopes of going to the playoffs, or will they blow it all up and start a *gasp* rebuild?
Unfortunately for Rockies fans, this team seems to want to do neither — they keep saying they’re 1-2 pieces away or the oft-repeated “players need to play better” line, but there doesn’t seem to be any real direction one way or another (which is why Bud Black is still managing after not one, but two 100+ loss seasons). Joelle broke it all down, and why fans have the right to be frustrated with the lack of direction of this franchise.
3) March 6: Making sense of Kris Bryant’s comments; 18,253 page views
In the immediate wake of Kris Bryant’s interview, Skyler broke down what exactly he said and what it all means for his future in purple pinstripes. As he points out in the article, “context is everything.”
2) June 17: For either Kris Bryant or the Rockies, enough has to be enough; 21,817 page views
Fast forward three months, and things around Kris Bryant did not improve. Evan took a look back on Bryant’s pre-Rockies career and how everything has gone horribly wrong for the former World Series champion and NL MVP. It seems as though the Rockies are planning to give Bryant one more shot in 2025, but if he fails to deliver again, could enough finally be enough?
1) April 1: Rockies owner Dick Monfort breaks silence with Opening Weekend statement; 25,976 page views
If Kris Bryant doesn’t take the crown for most-scrutinized Rockie, that usually falls either to Dick Monfort or Bud Black. This year, it fell all the way up to Monfort, who made his annual declaration on the state of the organization. This year, he famously balked at the idea of bringing in any outside help to bring a new perspective to the organization, saying he values loyalty and “organic” guys. Evan broke down Monfort’s full interview, and it doesn’t exactly bode well for the future of this organization…
