The 12th installment of a Yankees-Dodgers World Series starts tonight in Los Angeles

The World Series is finally here.

It seems like the Rockies stopped playing years ago, but it’s only been about a month. As the postseason bracket has funneled to the final matchup, now of baseball’s biggest juggernauts will take the field in Game 1 of the 120th World Series as the New York Yankees take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

While the Rockies had lower TV revenue in 2024, as Purple Row’s Renee Dechert wrote about on Tuesday, MLB viewership increased this season as MLB announced on Oct. 1: “MLB’s national television partners registered double digit growth in the Adult 18-34 category including ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball (+12%), FS1 (+24%) and MLB Network (+36%). In addition, FOX registered a +9% increase in the 18-34 demo.”

According to Forbes, “Heading into the 2024 World Series, the average audience for Major League Baseball’s postseason, across all three rounds, had averaged 3.95 million viewers, a year-over-year increase of +5%.”

With major media markets represented and Shohei Ohtani headlining Major League Baseball’s international appeal, this World Series could have very high ratings. That will likely include some Rockies hate-watching the Dodgers.
